As Back to School Season Approaches, California Parents Encouraged to Prepare Children for Transitional Kindergarten

Preschool California Recommends Top Five Ways to Get Kids TK-Ready;
Launches www.TKCalifornia.org
to Help Schools Prepare

Oakland, CA – August 6, 2012 –
With back-to-school season fast approaching, Preschool California today launched www.TKCalifornia.org and released a Top Five Ways to Prepare Your Kids for TK checklist to help parents get their children ready to start transitional kindergarten successfully.

The first new grade to be introduced in California since 1891, transitional kindergarten is a developmentally-appropriate grade to serve those younger students with birthdays between September and December.  Hundreds of transitional kindergarten classrooms are launching this fall and thousands of parents are preparing their children to start the school year smoothly.

The Top Five Ways to Prepare Your Kids for TK checklist is at: www.tkcalifornia.org/tkchecklist

“Parents across California are excited about transitional kindergarten and eager to help their students make the successful transition into this new grade.  Our TK preparation checklist is a resource Preschool California is pleased to provide families as they get ready,” said Catherine Atkin, President of Preschool California.

In addition to its Top Five checklist, Preschool California has amassed a wide range of resources at www.tkcalifornia.org to support schools in their TK implementation.
