Rescue Union School District registration is opening

02.09.2012 | Mountain Democrat

Rescue Union School District welcomes regular kindergarten, junior (transitional) kindergarten, new student registration and transfer requests for the 2012-13 school year.

Registration will begin on Wednesday, Feb. 15. Enrollment packets and transfer request forms are available to parents at all school sites.

All registrations and transfer requests received during the priority registration window, Feb. 15 through March 9, will receive the same first priority.

If a requested program or grade is overenrolled, a lottery will be held. Registration packets and transfer requests received after March 9 will be placed according to date received.

Students must be 5 years of age on or before Nov. 1, to enter kindergarten. Students must be 5 on or before Dec. 2, to be eligible for the junior kindergarten program.

Priority for junior kindergarten will be given to students with their fifth birthdays between Nov. 2 and Dec. 2, however, students who turn 5 during the 2012-13 school year after Dec. 2, are eligible to participate in junior kindergarten as they turn 5. These students will be put on a waiting list in order of birth date and placed on a space available basis.

The following documentation is required for registration: an immunization record, County Certificate of Live Birth (with county seal), proof of district residency (escrow papers, telephone or utility bill, rental agreement). If applicable, signed intradistrict or interdistrict transfer forms and current court orders regarding custody must also be turned in with packets. Bring in original documents and the school will make copies. Registration packets will only be accepted with all required documentation and forms. It is not necessary for immunizations to be complete at the time of registration. Copies will be made of current immunization records at registration and again as completed before the child starts school.

For those interested in the Montessori Program at Rescue Elementary School, the Visual and Performing Arts Program at Jackson Elementary School or the COOL School (a combination on-line/in-class blended learning program for grades 3-8); information and brochures are available on the district Website.

Students must be registered at their home school in the attendance area where they reside. Visit the district Website at rescueusd.org for additional information including school contact information, maps and forms.
